BEREA, Ohio — Throughout her last assembly on Dec. 2, Berea City Council President Mary Okay. Brown thanked and bid farewell to fellow council members, whereas providing recommendation to the incoming new representatives.
Brown ran for mayor in November but lost to incumbent Mayor Cyril Kleem. She served as council president starting in 2011, after initially beginning her political journey as a 2006 appointee to the Berea Constitution Assessment Fee.
Brown later represented Ward 5 as a council consultant in 2008-09 and likewise served on the Berea Planning Fee in 2010.
“I do not remorse my option to run for mayor,” Brown instructed council. “I knew it was all the best way in or all the best way out. I gave 100 % … and discovered quite a bit alongside the best way.”
Council has four new representatives coming on board. Jeff Dettmer might be council president, Leon Dozier will characterize Ward 1, Chris McManis would be the Ward 2 councilman and Kim Smith will characterize Ward four.
